Established in Chattanooga Tennessee in 1975 by Wayne Caughman, the Architectural firm of Caughman+Caughman Architects, PLLC is committed to quality design, technological innovation, and client service. Originally known as J. Wayne Caughman, Architect, the firm was well respected through the area for creating high-end custom residences.
In 1995, Architect Jay Caughman joined the practice and the firm further evolved into designing a host of building types including healthcare, civic, religious, office, industrial, multi-family, urban restoration & adaptive reuse, and historic restoration. Throughout the successful expansion into multiple project types, Caughman+Caughman has continued to design custom residences for individuals and families. Their commissions have been published in a variety of media throughout the years.
"As Architects, we integrate our client's vision, lifestyle, budget, and site to design an inspired structure that reflects their personality while blending seamlessly with their surroundings", explains Jay Caughman. Caughman+Caughman believes that thoughtful architecture recognizes all the factors that influence design, both those that limit as well as those that inspire. "Our role is to uncover, develop, and structure these factors to establish the framework in which we design. Our role is to bring about our clients dreams and solve in built form the needs that are presented to us."
Caughman+Caughman Architects was born from a shared desire to create architecture that is thoughtful in both context and construction, relevant to the present, and respectful of the context in which it was built.
Good design does not require the triumph of form over function, but the balance between the two.
